Mindy Hermann is an accomplished writer and editor for both consumer and medical media. Her consumer press credits include
Family Circle, Your Diet (People Magazine), Ladies Home Journal, Readers Digest, Consumers Digest, and others. From 1992 to 2000, Hermann was the nutrition editor for
Child; from 1997 to 2000, she wrote a monthly column for
Parents.com; she was a regular forum expert for phys.com from 1999 to 2000; and she provides nutrition analysis for a variety of clients, including the Los Angeles Times,
Essence, the National Chicken Council, the Beer Council, Let's Live, and small to mid-size bakeries and ethnic food companies.
Ms. Hermann is also a specialist in food and nutrition product and service communications. She is a frequent speaker on children's nutrition issues and has spoken at the California and Minnesota School Nutrition Associations on the role schools play in building healthy eaters.
Hermann is the co-author of
Live Longer & Better (1994) and the nutrition writer for the American Medical Association's
Family Health Cookbook (1997), which won a James Beard Cookbook Award. Hermann co-authored Readers Digest's
Change One (2002) and ghost wrote Weight Watchers'
Weight Loss That Lasts (2005) and Weight Watchers'
Family Power (January 2006). She served as a consultant to Barnes & Noble on its
Health Basics book series.
Ms. Hermann served as a spokesperson for the New York State and American Dietetic Associations from 1984 to 1995, frequently appearing on national and local television. She was the nutrition consultant and on-air nutritionist for Good Morning America's January 1996 "New Year, New You" series.
From 1979 until 1990, Ms. Hermann worked as a Clinical Diet/Nutrition Specialist at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. She earned a Bachelor's Degree from UCLA and an MBA in marketing from New York University. She is a registered dietitian and was named
Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year by the American Dietetic Association.
